What are the benefits of becoming an IMTN member?

Benefits of being an Institutional Member of the IMTN

The IMTN exists to glorify God by serving the global evangelical community in equipping men, women and families for cross-cultural ministry. The IMTN encourages missionary training programs to enlist as members of the IMTN. Membership is based on institutional commitment to the IMTN’s stated faith commitments and integral ministry principles and practices, not on academic criteria. Members are recommended to the IMTN by existing members and the WEA MC’s regional and national alliances. Members covenant together to uphold the commitments and standards of the IMTN and to assist each other in so doing. The direct benefits to an institution or program of being a member of the IMTN are as follows:

1. IMTN members gain identity and recognition as an institution linked with the World Evangelical Alliance Mission Commission*. The IMTN serves as a network of the WEA MC and extends this identity specifically to those entities that are training evangelical missionaries. Members are automatically invited to send delegates to the WEA MC’s global events, and participate in projects and programs.

2. The IMTN has a high commitment to developing training resources in major languages of instruction. Member institutions may submit projects for translation or development, and request assistance with funding and publication. Projects must serve the wider community of trainers and be developed with as broad a base of support as possible.

3. Member institutions are specifically eligible for consultant site visits and have access to resource persons in their region. The IMTN encourages member institutions to be about each other’s business and to share available resources and expertise. Together we achieve what individually we cannot.

4. Member institutions are eligible to submit plans for faculty development to the IMTN for access to scholarship funds. Scholarship help will only be given to the institution rather than individuals. Graduate study scholarships are only for programs in the 2/3 world and to regional schools and programs (no scholarship help is given for study in North America and Europe). Submission of scholarship help is also encouraged for faculty exchange opportunities.

5. To the extent possible, the IMTN assists member institutions to link with foundations and interested churches that may be able to provide encouragement, specific training, and funding to the member institution for capital development or scholarships.

6. Member institutions will have access to online resources that are unavailable to the general public, and free (pop3) email accounts. Visit www.theIMTN.org. (external link)
