IMTN Goals

Goals the IMTN Seeks to Fulfill

At the Canada 2003 World Evangelical Alliance - Mission Commission conference the IMTN established five working goals.

1) COMMUNICATION: Provide and maintain an efficient global communication network among missionary trainers.

2) VISION: Stimulate vision for viable, integral and accessible missionary training programs worldwide.

3) RESOURCES: Coordinate development of culturally appropriate missionary training resources in major training languages.

4) COORDINATION: Coordinate the work of the IMTN associates as consultants to regional training centers and for training trainers.

5) ASSESSMENT: Facilitate the assessment of global missionary training to recognize effectiveness and address needs.


During the South Africa 2006 World Evangelical Alliance - Mission Commission conference the following additional goals were added.

6) ISSUES & TRENDS: Identify issues and trends affecting the church and the global mission and explore the implications these represent for relevant and effective missionary training.

7) IN-SERVICE TRAINING: Promote a philosophy of life-long learning and encourage the development and use of in-service training and resources.
